Aeroméxico

Aeroméxico is the flag carrier of Mexico, tracing its origins to 1934 when it was founded as Aeronaves de México in Mexico City. After decades as a state-owned enterprise, it was privatized in 1988 and later restructured following a bankruptcy filing in 2020, emerging in 2022 with new ownership led by Apollo Global Management and Delta Air Lines as a significant partner. The airline operates an extensive network from its primary hub at Mexico City International Airport (AICM), with additional operations at Felipe Ángeles International Airport and a secondary hub at Monterrey. Its route map spans domestic destinations across Mexico, the United States, Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia, with long-haul services to cities such as Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam, Tokyo, and Seoul. Aeroméxico's fleet is centered on Boeing aircraft, including the Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliner for long-haul flights and the Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 and 9 for domestic and regional routes, complemented by Embraer E190 jets operated under the Aeroméxico Connect brand. The airline has been a member of the SkyTeam alliance since 2000, giving passengers access to a global network alongside Delta Air Lines, Air France, KLM, and other partners, and maintains a joint cooperation agreement with Delta for transborder flights between Mexico and the United States. Its Club Premier loyalty programme, which awards Premier Points, is one of the most established frequent flyer schemes in Latin America. Aeroméxico holds a leading position in the Mexican market, though it continues to navigate intense domestic competition from low-cost rivals and the ongoing operational shifts created by Mexico City's multi-airport system.
